Loverman is an upbeat and danceable recording. On this CD Tony includes the tenor sax as part of his accompanists group. The sax player is impressive giving the recording a combination reggae, rock and R& B sound.

Tony Mangra
Loverman

eCaroh Price: $15.95

Loverman was recorded in 2002 and all the songs were written by Tony Mangra. The accompanist instruments and musicians are:
  • Drums & Percussion - Steve Hartwell
  • Bass, Guitar & Keyboards - Val Kronk
  • Saxophone - Richard Potter
  • Additional Guitar on In The Mood by Ruben Rodriguez
  • Background Vocals - Alisa Claridy

Tony Mangra was born in Albouystown, Guyana but grew up in the village of Port Mourant on the Courentyne River. He left Guyana in 1982, migrating to the USA and brought with him a life long dream of singing and recording music. He is a songwriter and plays the guitar. His songs range from love ballads to compositions about his roots. Because of his early influences, his music has a reggae influence.

Guyana is located in South America but culturally it is a part of the West Indies. Tony grew up in the countryside of Guyana listening to music from India, rock steady (what has now evolved to what the world knows as reggae), calypso and Guyanese folk music. Some of his influences are Bob Marley, The Tradewinds and The Mighty Sparrow to name a few.
